How to Quickly Detect CN2 GIA Lines?

When purchasing a VPS claiming to have a CN2 GIA line, many users don't know how to verify the merchant's claims. This article explains the characteristics of VPS CN2 GIA lines and two primary detection methods.

What is a CN2 GIA Line?

CN2 GIA (Global Internet Access) is currently the highest-level cross-border private line offered by China Telecom. By fully deploying the AS4809 dedicated network and 59.43 core nodes, it provides an ultra-fast experience akin to a "VIP private highway." Its core advantage lies in extreme stability; even during peak evening hours when network congestion is highest, it maintains very low packet loss and smooth access speeds. It is widely recognized as the "ceiling" of international network lines.

Core Identification Characteristics of CN2 GIA

When performing a Traceroute, pay attention to these two key points:

  • AS Number: It must include AS4809 (China Telecom CN2 network). Standard 163 lines use AS4134.

  • Node IP: IP addresses starting with 59.43 must appear in the hop list.

Difference between CN2 GIA and CN2 GT:

  • CN2 GIA: Both outbound and return routes start using 59.43 nodes at the domestic provincial/municipal level.

  • CN2 GT: It uses the standard 202.97 (163 line) for the domestic segment and only switches to 59.43 at the international exit.

Two Methods for Detecting CN2 GIA Lines

Method 1: IT DOG Website Testing

If you haven't purchased the VPS yet and want to verify a provider's claims, you can use the test IP provided by the merchant along with a third-party speed test platform like ITDOG. It can initiate Traceroutes from various provinces across China, allowing you to view the return route directly via the web.

In this example, I am using VMRack's premium three-network service (CN2 GIA + 9929 + CMIN2). VMRack is a global cloud infrastructure provider with its own data center in Los Angeles and a self-developed management platform, offering cloud servers, bare metal, and global CDN acceleration.

The test results obtained via a support ticket test IP are as follows:

As seen in the results, most nodes are CN2-based with IPs starting with 59.43. This confirms that the China Telecom return route for this IP is a pure CN2 GIA network.

Method 2: One-Click Script Testing

If you have already purchased the server and logged in via SSH, and want to confirm if the return route (from the server to your local machine) is CN2 GIA, use this simple one-click script:
